Wavefront Eye Surgery - Custom LASIK Step By Step

Wavefront eye surgery or Custom LASIK is designed to correct the complete vision for the patient.

Day and night vision is improved overall and is much more precise than the standard LASIK procedure.

Here is what happens during Custom LASIK surgery:

  • In Custom LASIK, the eye is made numb with the anesthetic drops as in basic LASIK.

  • Then a flap is made with a steel blade and lifted away.

  • The difference is that with the corneal tissue now revealed, the laser is applied to it in conjunction with some very high tech software called Wavefront technology.

This technology tells the computer precisely where the reshaping of the eye needs the most attention. This allows the surgeon to actually personalize each procedure to the patient.

  • Now, with the eye reshaped accordingly, the surgeon replaces the flap and the eye will heal naturally and securely.

More complex vision problems like high degrees of myopia or hyperopia can be corrected with Custom Wavefront LASIK.

Again, night vision is also improved with custom LASIK, unlike basic LASIK. Sophisticated software is used to keep the equipment centered on the cornea, even if your eye rotates during surgery. It is virtually mistake free and very precise.

There is also a new procedure available called iLASIK. This surgery is totally bladeless. Read more about advantages of iLASIK in the article below.
